Each year during the first week of May the Pierre Education Association helps prepare the Community Banquet.  This service to the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Area was begun in 1985 and has served these meals at the South East Methodist Community Center every Thursday evening (save two per year) since then.  The leader of this laudable good work is Eileen Herrin.  When it's the teachers' turn Mr. Mickelson likes to plan the menu, order the food, and with countless helpers assist in preparing the meal.. Everybody's hungry.  Each week there always seems to be just enough food with some left over. Once a year all the Pierre Public Schools staff is invited to help prepare the Community Banquet at the South East Pierre Community Center. Teachers are everywhere-  cooking, serving, and cleaning  Desserts are one of the most favorite, and there are tons to give out.
